Role, development and history of the profession Provide an effective research support service that is cost-effective, 'joined up' and 'fit for purpose
Information dissemination Collect and disseminate information (funding opportunities, changes in research regulations etc) to relevant target groups inside and outside the institution
Identifying funding sources/opportunities for research Target funding opportunities and disseminate information to relevant individuals
Proposal preparing Project writing Co-ordinate proposal preparation, which could include identifying research team members, preparing the budget and writing and reviewing text
Technology transfer (general) Provide support for technology transfer activities such as identifying opportunities, brokering relationships, licensing IP, creating 'spin out' companies
Analyzing research data Continuously collect correct and relevant data to produce reports
Service organisation and delivery Collect and collate data and ensure that the return is complete and returned by the deadline
Quality assurance Ranking/Benchmarking Monitor the quality of research upon its objective comparison with absolute standards and measures of performance Supporting the process of research benchmarking within the Higher Education sector
